Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake touched down in New Delhi on Sunday for a three-day visit, marking his first foreign trip since taking office in September.
The visit aims to invigorate the bilateral relationship between India and Sri Lanka. President Dissanayake was warmly welcomed by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan, underscoring the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
During his stay, discussions with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are on the agenda, focusing on trade, investment, energy, and maritime security. This visit is seen as an opportunity to deepen India-Sri Lanka ties, in line with India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the SAGAR outlook. The visit also includes participation in a business event to promote commercial linkages between the two nations.
