On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized operations to arrest Palestinians after an attack killed three Israelis in the northern West Bank.
Netanyahu’s approval includes a series of additional defensive and offensive operations in the West Bank, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
This decision came after a situation assessment on the West Bank led by the Prime Minister, with the participation of the security officials including, Defense Minister Israel Katz and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar.
Three Israelis were killed, and others injured, in a shooting attack on Monday morning near the settlement of Kedumim in the northern West Bank.
According to an Israeli security source, the attack was carried out by two or three armed individuals who fired at two vehicles and a bus at close range, killing two women , a man and injuring several others.
Israeli investigations indicate that after the attack, the assailants fled into the depths of nearby villages, prompting a large-scale manhunt involving both field operations and intelligence efforts.
Security officials are also concerned about the possibility of settlers launching retaliatory attacks against Palestinians.
