India's NIA raids 19 locations across country in case linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed

In a significant crackdown on terrorism, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 19 locations across five states and one Union Territory on December 12, 2024. The operation targeted individuals linked to the proscribed terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), focusing on the radicalization of youth and the spread of terrorist propaganda.

The raids, executed in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat, aimed to dismantle networks involved in supporting and financing terrorist activities. Among those detained was Sahanur Alam, an Imam from Goalpara, Assam, highlighting the broad spectrum of individuals under scrutiny. The NIA’s actions are part of a broader strategy to counteract extremist activities by disrupting the logistical and financial support systems of terror groups.

This operation underscores the Indian government’s ongoing commitment to national security, particularly in regions prone to radicalization. The NIA’s efforts are focused on preventing terror attacks and ensuring public safety by cutting off the roots of terrorism within the country.
