Indian has confirmed the receipt of a Note Verbale from the Bangladesh High Commission regarding an extradition request for former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The request was acknowledged by Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, who stated, “We confirm that we have received a Note Verbale from the Bangladesh High Commission today in connection with an extradition request. At this time, we have no comment to offer on this matter.”
This development follows recent political upheaval in Bangladesh, where Hasina was ousted following mass protests. The interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, seeks to bring Hasina back to face charges related to her administration. The specifics of the charges remain undisclosed.
