Hamas has welcomes Ireland’s decision to join South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). According to a report by Lebanon’s Al-Manar TV, Hamas has urged other nations to follow suit, intensifying pressure on Israel to cease its military actions in Gaza. S
outh Africa initiated the legal action in December 2023, accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians. Despite an ICJ order on May 4 to stop military operations in Rafah, southern Gaza, Israel has continued its attacks.
The case has garnered international support, with countries like Nicaragua, Belgium, Colombia, Turkey, Libya, Egypt, Maldives, Mexico, Chile, Palestine, and Spain either joining or expressing interest in the lawsuit. Hamas’s statement emphasizes the need for global cooperation to address what it describes as Israel’s “brutal attacks” on the Palestinian population.
