Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, India’s largest mobility showcase, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The five-day event, spread across three venues, highlights the nation’s strides in green mobility, electric vehicles (EVs), and sustainable automotive technologies. Themed “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain,” the expo gathers global and domestic stakeholders to discuss and showcase advancements in the sector.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized India’s emergence as a global leader in mobility. He highlighted the sector’s 12% growth over the past year and increasing exports under the “Make in India, Make for the World” initiative. He attributed this progress to India’s youthful population, expanding middle class, and robust infrastructure investments, which are transforming the nation into the third-largest passenger vehicle market worldwide.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to industry icons Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki, whose contributions revolutionized India’s automobile sector. Modi expressed confidence in the sector’s future-readiness and ability to meet global challenges.

PM Modi underscored the government’s commitment to sustainable transportation. Citing the rapid adoption of EVs, he noted that sales have increased 640 times over the last decade, with 16.8 lakh EVs sold in 2024 alone. He projected an eightfold rise in EV usage by 2030, driven by government incentives like the FAME-2 scheme and new PM E-Drive initiatives. These schemes support EV purchases, build charging infrastructure, and promote e-mobility through subsidies and grants.

Highlighting the need for alternative energy sources, Modi discussed the National Electric Mobility Mission and the Green Hydrogen Mission. He emphasized the importance of advancing battery storage technologies and encouraged youth-led startups in the energy storage sector. The government has also launched an ₹18,000 crore PLI scheme to promote advanced battery production.

The Prime Minister stressed that infrastructure development underpins the growth of India’s auto industry. Over ₹11 lakh crore was allocated in the last Union Budget for infrastructure projects, including multi-lane highways and expressways. The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan and the National Logistics Policy aim to reduce logistics costs, making India globally competitive in mobility solutions.

Technological advancements like FASTag and the National Common Mobility Card have also enhanced ease of travel. Modi highlighted the increasing focus on autonomous driving and connected vehicles, emphasizing India’s move toward smart mobility.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 spans Bharat Mandapam, Yashobhoomi, and the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. Key segments include the Auto Expo Motor Show, India Cycle Show, and Bharat Battery Show, showcasing cutting-edge vehicles, EV technologies, and energy solutions. Additionally, international pavilions feature participants from Japan, Germany, South Korea, and the UK.

The expo also features the Auto Expo – Components Show, emphasizing EV batteries, infotainment systems, and startups. The Bharat Construction Equipment Show and Urban Mobility & Infrastructure Show highlight sustainable urban solutions and advanced construction technologies.

PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering a thriving automotive ecosystem. With over $36 billion in FDI attracted in the last four years and significant advancements in EV and green technologies, India is poised to become a global mobility leader. He urged manufacturers to leverage the vehicle scrapping policy and invest in innovation and sustainability, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to eco-friendly growth.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 exemplifies India’s vision for a future-ready automotive sector, merging economic growth with environmental stewardship.
