A senior official from Iran’s Foreign Ministry has reiterated the country’s commitment to fostering amicable relations with its neighbors, with a special focus on the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On Wednesday, Mojtaba Damirchi, who serves as an assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister, disclosed to IRNA that Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Baku, Seyyed Jafar Aghaei Maryan, was called to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. This summons came in response to “inappropriate” comments made by an “irresponsible” individual at an event in northwestern Iran.
“It is important to note that such statements do not reflect the official stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the official said.
